NQT+ Programme

Next Steps for Second and Third Year Teachers

The Wandle Teaching School Alliance are once again offering this popular yet challenging programme for those moving into their second or third year of teaching or for those who are seeking further support in moving beyond ‘good’ or taking their first steps in subject leadership.

The structure of the course offers flexibility with a programme of optional half day sessions to compliment the 2 core days. All the sessions will run in the first half of the academic year to allow for
participants to apply their knowledge and skills in their everyday professional practice.

Programme Overview: 

Day One: Core Day

6th October 2017 (9am - 4pm)

Session One:

- Expectations of a second and third year teacher

- Ingredients of a 'good lesson'

- AfL - planning to meet the needs of all children

Session Two:

- Lesson observations and feedback

Session Three:

- Planning and delivering outstanding English lessons - using texts and incorporating grammar objectives

Day Two: Half Day 

8th November 2017 (1:30pm - 4pm)


Session One:

- New to subject leadership (reviewing your subject using books and portfolios, action planning)

Day Three: Core Day 

28th November 2017 (9am - 4pm)

Session One: 

- Teaching Maths for mastery

Session Two:

- Effective marking and feedback

- Communicating with parents

Session Three:

- Teaching Geography and History

Day Four: Half Day 

11th January 2018

(1:30pm - 4pm)

Session One: 

- Reviewing your subject - lesson observation and feedback

Session Two:

- Understanding the EYFS curriculum and how to review your subject across the school

The cost for the 2 core days is £200 including lunch and refreshments. 
Each of the half day workshops is £75. 
For the full programme, the cost per participant is £300.
