Mentoring into Coaching

High quality mentoring and coaching supports colleagues to become the best teachers they can be. Highly rewarding professionally, undertaking a mentoring / coaching role provides opportunities for deep reflection on individual practice and can lead to positive benefits for teams and departments.

The Programme:

This programme is delivered by Denys Wallace (Senior Deputy Head of Chestnut Grove Academy / Co-Director of the Wandle Teaching School Alliance) who is an accredited executive coach.

Sessions combine bursts of theory with practical activity. Participants are encouraged to apply new learning between sessions and share experience through ‘real-life’ case studies.

Session one:              Introduction to Coaching

Session two:              Coaching Skills

Session three:           Coaching Skills: Moving from Mentoring to Coaching

Session four:             Observation Skills and Coaching Skills

Session five:              Reflection, Supervision and Sharing Our Practice

Aimed at:
This programme is aimed at mentors who wish to explore their practice and develop coaching skills.  It is ideal for all those who work as mentors for NQTs and other staff.

Duration:
This programme is facilitated over four twilight sessions:

Tuesday 2nd October 2018 (2-5pm)
Thursday 1st November 2018 (2-5pm)
Monday 3rd December 2018 (4:15 - 5:45pm)
Tuesday 15th January 2019 (4:15 - 5:45pm)
Thursday 14th February 2019 (4:15 - 5:45pm)
Monday 18th March 2019 (4:15 - 5:45pm)

Cost:
Appropriate Body Users: £180
Alliance Members: £200
Non-Alliance Members: £250
This cost includes refreshments, lunch and course materials.

Location:
This course will be facilitated at Chesterton Primary School (Dagnall Street, Battersea, London, SW11 5DT).
